In Hinduism, Vibhuti is the sacred ash which is made of burnt dried wood in Agamic rituals. Hindu devotees apply vibhuthi traditionally as three horizontal lines across the forehead and other parts of the body to honor Shiva. Vibhuti smeared across the forehead to the end of both eyebrows is called Tripundra. vibhuthi is sacred ash used as an identification to the power of God or the mystical and supreme spiritual power of nature. It itself means something that is great, is abundant, powerful, mighty and of great honor.
